OCEANSIDE–A driver who collided into a tree in Vista on February 8 has died from his injuries, the Oceanside Police Department said.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 37-year-old Eric Daub of Oceanside.

On February 8, at approximately shortly after 2 a.m., Oceanside police responded to calls of a serious injury collision involving a single vehicle into a tree on Melrose between Meadowbrook and Sagewood in Oceanside. Officers and paramedics arrived to find Daub in the driver seat of a Subaru Impreza, unconscious, with severe head injury.

Traffic investigators said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control while traveling northbound on Melrose.

SYNOPSIS:

Vehicle 1 was traveling west on Kismet Pkwy W in the inside lane approaching the intersection with NW 19th Court. Vehicle 1 was traveling east on Kismet Pkwy W in the inside lane approaching the intersection with NW 19th Court. Vehicle 1 failed to yield the right of way and turned left onto NW 19th Court into the path of Vehicle 2. The front of Vehicle 2 collided with the passenger side door of Vehicle 1 (T-bone crash). Vehicle 1 rotated counter-clockwise and came to final rest facing east off of the roadway on the southeast corner of the intersection. Vehicle 2 rotated clockwise and came to final rest facing west in the east outside lane of Kismet Pkwy W.
