CHULA VISTA–Chula Vista Walmart associates and the Latino Restaurant Association hosted a hot meal giveaway Friday for hospital front line workers at Scripps Mercy Hospital in Chula Vista.

Chula Vista Walmart stores teamed up with the restaurant association to help feed and provide care bags.

“We wanted to show our appreciation for the local heroes who are on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic,” said Cole McConnell, San Diego Walmart Market Manager. “Every day they are helping people in our community who are suffering and we commend them for their tireless service.”

Walmart associates and the Latino Restaurant Association members assembled and provided 200 hot meals and 300 care packages. The care packages included toiletries and snacks for hospital healthcare workers.

The hosted meals were purchased at local Latino-owned restaurants in support of the non-profit Latino Restaurant Association and its program objectives. Walmart and the association plan to host more hot meals for hospital workers across California.
