San Diego, CA–Thirty-six dedicated volunteers from the San Diego Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) Team have been deployed to assist in the aftermath of the devastating Eaton Fire in Los Angeles County.
The fire, which has destroyed homes and displaced numerous families, has left widespread destruction in its wake.
“Search and Rescue is about restoring hope, saving lives, and uniting communities. This mission knows no borders, especially when it comes to supporting neighboring counties like those just north of San Diego. We are privileged to have dedicated San Diego Search and Rescue volunteers in our county ready to answer the call and make a difference,” SAR Sergeant Anthony Abutin stated in a news release.
The SAR volunteers provide critical support through search efforts, debris clearing, and aiding local authorities in locating missing individuals. Equipped with specialized training and experience, these volunteers are working tirelessly to bring relief and resources to affected communities.
“Our SAR volunteers exemplify the spirit of service. Their expertise and willingness to put their lives on hold and step up in times of crisis make a profound difference in the lives of those impacted. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the fires,” Sheriff Kelly Martinez said.
