San Diego, CA–Local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in San Diego County are working together to ensure a safe and secure Election Day experience for all voters on November 5.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, along with other law enforcement partners, will actively monitor potential threats throughout Election Day. While no credible threats have been identified, authorities remain ready to respond quickly to any possible incidents.
In preparation for the election, the Sheriff’s Office has coordinated closely with various agencies to establish a communication network and strategies for managing large-scale incidents to protect San Diego communities.
“In anticipation of the November 5 election, we have been proactive in evaluating potential risks with our local, state, and federal partners,” Sheriff Kelly Martinez stated, noting the Sheriff’s role as a regional coordinator for mutual aid response.
The Sheriff’s Office will operate an Emergency Operations Center next week, ensuring deputies are strategically positioned across the county to rapidly assess and address any issues.
Sheriff Martinez emphasized the importance of respectful expression under the First Amendment, urging the public to remain civil.
“We want to reassure the public that we are fully prepared for any contingency and committed to community safety,” she added.
Similarly, the San Diego Police Department stressed that exercising the right to vote is a fundamental American value. The department pledged its commitment to protecting the voting process in partnership with the San Diego County Registrar of Voters and federal agencies.
“We encourage civility before, during, and after elections, regardless of the outcome,” the San Diego Police Department stated in a news release.
Additionally, the San Diego Law Enforcement Coordination Center has been working closely with its partners to prepare for the election. They’ve developed an interactive Election Dashboard for real-time sharing of election-related information, with emergency contacts and other resources to aid swift decision-making and communication.
Currently, no credible threats have been reported in San Diego or Imperial Counties, though monitoring will continue throughout the election process.
For anyone with concerns about potential Election Day threats, authorities encourage contacting local law enforcement. In emergencies, call 9-1-1.
