San Diego, CA–The Board of Supervisors held a public housing workshop this week to review unincorporated land-use policies and discuss regional solutions aimed at addressing the county’s ongoing housing crisis.
The informational session comes ahead of several upcoming Board decisions on housing initiatives and was intended to provide background and policy context for those votes. County Planning and Development Services outlined current housing production trends and long-range planning efforts that will shape future growth in unincorporated communities.
County Housing and Community Development Services also reported on affordable housing production, progress on homelessness programs, and ongoing partnerships intended to expand access to stable housing for at-risk residents.
The workshop included presentations from stakeholder groups, offering a range of perspectives on housing needs and development challenges. County officials reviewed data on the types and locations of housing permitted in recent years and discussed potential policy changes affecting development on the limited land where the County has land-use authority.
Officials also announced the launch of a new online Housing Hub, described as a one-stop resource for information about the County’s housing programs, data, and initiatives. The site is designed to help residents locate affordable housing resources, tenant and landlord support, and opportunities for public involvement. It will also serve as a tool for builders seeking information on permitting, funding, and development trends.
County leaders said the new portal is intended to increase transparency, improve community access to information, and highlight cross-department coordination in support of the County’s Housing Blueprint goals.
