SANTEE–A 36 acres brush fire broke out Wednesday that forced nearby residents to evacuate their homes in Santee.
The blaze was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. in the 10000 block of Chaparral Drive, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies arrived on scene as the fire department actively fought the fire on the hillside north of Cuyamaca Street and Chaparral Drive. The deputies assisted with road closures and evacuations of nearby residences.
At 3:20 p.m., the fire was contained. No structures were damaged. Evacuees returned to their homes and the road closures were lifted.
The fire department is working with the Sheriff’s Department to investigate the fire.
