CARLSBAD–A bicyclist suffered serious injuries after he collided with a vehicle in Carlsbad on Thursday morning.
The Carlsbad Police Department responded at 6 a.m. to a report of a bicyclist that had collided with a vehicle on El Camino Real near Palomar Airport Road.
Arriving officers found a 58-year-old man lying in the roadway.
The Carlsbad Fire Department responded and transported the bicyclist to a local hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the bicyclist was riding northbound in the southbound lanes of El Camino Real just south of Palomar Airport Road when the collision occurred. Alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor in the collision.
The 31-year-old-driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
