SAN DIEGO–Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a San Diego man who died while in police custody early Monday morning, according to San Diego police.

San Diego police officers were dispatched just after 3 a.m. to the 1400 block of Greycourt Way to investigate a naked 53-year-old Filipino male who was causing a disturbance inside of his house.

The first officers arrived to find the naked male in his front yard. When officers attempted to detain the male, he physically resisted. During the struggle, he stopped breathing. Officers began life saving measures and the male was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene and are currently investigating the incident.

The male has been identified but his name will not being released until family members are notified.

The officers involved in the incident are 2, 4, 5, 7, 18, and 22 year veterans of the San Diego Police Department.
