SAN DIEGO–In anticipation of the new Direct Access Ramp (DAR) on Interstate 805 (I-805) at Carroll Canyon Road, Caltrans will close all lanes of southbound and northbound Interstate 805 just south of the Interstate 5 (I-5)/I-805 merge for restriping.

Southbound I-805 will close from the merge to just south of the Mira Mesa Boulevard/Vista Sorrento Parkway off-ramp on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists will be detoured to southbound I-5 or they can use the local Bypass at Carmel Valley Road. Motorists using I-5 will be detoured to eastbound SR-52 to southbound I-805. Motorists using the local Bypass will return to southbound I-805 south of merge but will be forced to exit at the Mira Mesa Boulevard/Sorrento Valley Road off-ramp, and then back onto the freeway using the southbound I-805 Mira Mesa Boulevard/Sorrento Valley Road on-ramp.

Northbound I-805 will close from the Mira Mesa Boulevard/Vista Sorrento Parkway off-ramp to the merge on Thursday and Friday evenings from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists will be detoured at the off-ramp and directed straight through the intersection to Vista Sorrento Parkway north to Carmel Mountain Road to the northbound I-5 on-ramp.

The restriping work will open the new freeway Carpool Lanes but the DAR will not open until early March.
