ENCINITAS–A father was stabbed allegedly by his son during an argument that led to a physical altercation on Friday afternoon, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department said.

At about 4:30 p.m. a father and son living in the 1100 block of Saxony Road in Encinitas got into a verbal argument. A physical confrontation ensued. During the confrontation the son stabbed the father and fled the scene. The father sustained a single, non-life-threatening stab wound. He was transported to the hospital and reported the incident.

Deputies conducted a preliminary investigation and checked the area for the suspect using both K-9 and A.S.T.R.E.A. helicopter. The suspect was not located.

The incident is under investigation.
