SAN DIEGO–Maritime Museum of San Diego completed its holiday lighting of the legendary and oldest active sailing ship in the world – Star of India.
Prominently located along the San Diego downtown North Embarcadero, Star’s beautiful and bright holiday lighting arrangement were made possible by a donation from long time and dedicated maintenance/sail crew volunteer member Robert Knapp.
San Diego residents and visitors are invited to make their way to the waterfront to view the lights which will be lit nightly now through New Year’s Day. Open year round, including Christmas Day, Maritime Museum of San Diego has one of the largest collections of historic vessels in the nation. From sail to steam to submarine, one general admission ticket is all a visitor needs to explore all vessels dockside plus educational and entertaining photographic, artifact and historical interactive exhibits displayed aboard the 1898 steam ferryboat Berkeley.
Visitors interested in sailing on the bay can purchase 4-hour day sail tickets for an afternoon adventure aboard the 1542 galleon replica San Salvador, available most weekends now through Spring of 2018.
