Walden Family Services gala raises $100K for foster families

By SDCN Staff

San Diego, CA–Walden Family Services raised $100,000 at its signature fundraiser, Cabaret in Paris, to support foster children, youth, and their families across Southern California.

The gala was held on May 9 at the historic Abbey on Fifth in Bankers Hill in San Diego. The event dazzled guests with a Parisian-themed evening full of elegance, energy, and heart.

The night featured a vibrant mix of entertainment from performers Twisted Orbit, Nina bel Vande, Paris Hot Club Band, DJ Farbia, Maddy Mokes, Ella Mentary, Jazzelene East Coast, and Mariam T.

“Cabaret in Paris is more than just a celebration—it’s a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together for a cause greater than ourselves,” said Teresa Stivers, CEO of Walden Family Services. “Every dollar raised helps ensure that foster youth feel seen, supported, and surrounded by a community that believes in them.”

Led by event co-chairs and Walden Board Members Andréa da Rosa, Raymond Simas, and community advocate Dwayne Wynne, the evening honored Chris Shaw and Doug Snyder of Urban Mo’s, Gossip Grill, Baja Betty’s, Hillcrest Brewing Company, and InsideOUT for their unwavering commitment to inclusivity and building welcoming spaces for all.

In a special highlight of the evening, Assemblymember Chris Ward presented Walden Family Services CEO Teresa Stivers with an award in recognition of her exceptional leadership and advocacy during Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The honor celebrated Teresa’s steadfast commitment to uplifting foster children, youth, and families throughout California, and her tireless efforts to create inclusive, affirming spaces where all youth can thrive.

Event proceeds will fund Walden’s essential services, including mental health support, educational resources, transitional housing needs, and safe placements for foster children and youth across Southern California.
