Fallbrook, CA–Sheriff’s deputies with the Fallbrook Crime Suppression Team arrested a 41-year-old man after discovering suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and two firearms during a traffic enforcement stop.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, deputies spotted Ruben Vidaca, who had an active arrest warrant, driving near South Pico Avenue and West Elder Street in the unincorporated community of Fallbrook.

Deputies conducted an enforcement stop, and Vidaca pulled over at the intersection. He was taken into custody without incident on the outstanding warrant.

During a search of Vidaca, deputies reportedly found a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded 9mm handgun inside the passenger compartment. Deputies also found a .22-caliber rifle and ammunition in the trunk.

Authorities said the serial numbers on both firearms had been altered, preventing deputies from immediately determining their owners. The firearms will be submitted to the Sheriff’s Crime Laboratory for further examination and identification.

Vidaca was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on the outstanding warrant and additional weapons- and narcotics-related charges.
