ESCONDIDO–The Palomar Health Foundation added Anthony Nguyen of Escondido as its newest board member.
Nguyen is the Director of Constituent Services and Health Policy advisor to U.S. Congressman Scott Peters. Nguyen is an advocate for policies that improve health care, senior care, and services for the aging. IF you would like to learn more then consider reading a Health policy blog.
As a young adult, Nguyen interned at Palomar Health and says he was “inspired by the work they do.” He is impressed by how active Palomar Health is in the community, educating underrepresented groups on health issues and partnering with schools on matters like obesity.
“I’m grateful and humble to have this opportunity to represent my community (on the Board),” Nguyen said, adding the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities are growing in Escondido and he reflects the Board’s movement to diversify its members to better represent the district’s changing demographics.
Nguyen’s parents emigrated from Vietnam as refugees, settling in the Grant Hill neighborhood of San Diego. Considering himself a San Diego native, Nguyen graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Political Science, from the University of San Diego with an M.A. in International Relations, and from the University of Southern California with a Master’s in Health Administration. Nguyen currently resides with his family in Escondido.
“Nguyen’s personal and professional values align perfectly with our mission and goals,” said Palomar Health Foundation Executive Director Jean Larsen. “His experience in healthcare policy and commitment to public service makes him a wonderful asset to the Board.”
Palomar Health Foundation is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization raising annual funds to support the highest and most urgent needs of Palomar Health District Hospitals, which include Palomar Medical Center Escondido, Palomar Medical Center Poway, and Palomar Hospital-Downtown Campus.
