SAN DIEGO–The Carlsbad-based ConnectMed International has awarded financial scholarships and training opportunities for 15 recipients of the CMI International Nursing Scholarships Program.
The program funds scholarships for nursing students in Vietnam who are committed to working in low-income, rural communes.
Every year, the CMI International Nursing Scholarships Program aims to provide scholarships and training opportunities for low-income nursing students from rural areas at The Hue University Faculty of Nursing, the only nursing school in central Vietnam. Poverty is prevalent within this region and basic healthcare is widely unaccessible; the few available clinics located amongst the Vietnamese terrain have difficulty meeting healthcare demands.
“Many students aspire to become nurses and doctors but the financial hardship makes it near impossible,” said ConnectMed President Amanda Gosman. “Our goal is to help fulfill the high demand of medical care in under-resourced areas by providing financial scholarships and training to students of academic excellence who can make a real impact for the next generation of sustainable medical programs.”
International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on May 12 of each year to mark the contributions nurses make to society. In observance of the date, ConnectMed is seeking donations to further its CMI International Nursing Scholarships Program to provide more financial scholarships and training opportunities to low-income nursing students.
