Fallbrook, CA–The Fallbrook Land Conservancy has announced the renewal of its land trust accreditation, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to conservation excellence.
The accreditation places the nonprofit organization among a distinguished group of over 450 accredited land trusts nationwide dedicated to preserving America’s cherished natural spaces.
“Renewing our accreditation demonstrates Fallbrook Land Conservancy’s ongoing dedication to permanent land conservation in the region. Going through the rigorous accreditation renewal process has made us a stronger organization,” said Karla Ibarra, the executive director of the Fallbrook Land Conservancy.
Ibarra highlighted that this strength ensures the protection of special places like Monserate Mountain Preserve and Los Jilgueros Preserve, benefiting the community now and for generations to come.
Accreditation is achieved through extensive documentation and a comprehensive third-party evaluation. The Land Trust Accreditation Commission recognized the conservancy’s commitment to protecting lands for future generations by awarding it renewed accreditation. Currently, accredited land trusts steward over 20 million acres across the United States, equivalent to the size of Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island combined.
Founded in 1988, the Fallbrook Land Conservancy safeguards over 4,500 acres of open space in San Diego County through land and conservation easement acquisition. Monserate Mountain Preserve, home to the federally threatened coastal California gnatcatcher, and Los Jilgueros Preserve, which supports the federally endangered least Bell’s vireo, are among its most popular preserves. These sites attract over 100,000 hiking trips annually, allowing the public to connect with nature and appreciate the region’s natural landscapes.
Melissa Kalvestrand, executive director of the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, commended the Fallbrook Land Conservancy.
“We are honored to recognize Fallbrook Land Conservancy’s continued commitment to conservation excellence. The accreditation seal is a symbol of excellence, trust, and permanence,” Kalvestrand said.
Recognizing the Fallbrook Land Conservancy’s dedication to conservation, the Land Trust Alliance listed it among the 1,281 land trusts in the United States in its most recent National Land Trust Census.
