San Diego, CA–As holiday shoppers unwrap new gadgets this season, BBB Pacific Southwest and Computers 2 Kids are encouraging residents to put their retired electronics to good use.
The organizations have launched the “Tech the Halls” community campaign, a device donation drive running Dec. 5 through Jan. 30. The effort aims to collect used computers and other technology, refurbish them, and distribute them to students who lack reliable access to devices for school.
BBB’s Kearny Mesa campus at 4747 Viewridge Ave., Suite 200, will accept devices Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Computers 2 Kids, located at 8324 Miramar Mall, will take donations from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Snapdragon Stadium, 2101 Stadium Way, will accept items between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Both working and non-working electronics are eligible, including desktops, laptops, tablets, keyboards, mice, cords and other hardware and software.
Program organizers say the campaign will help bridge the digital divide by turning unused home electronics into essential learning tools for local students. The initiative also supports environmental efforts by diverting e-waste from landfills.
