SAN DIEGO–The 33rd annual Wine and Roses Charity Wine Tasting event will be held at the Darlington House in La Jolla in September. The Social Service Auxiliary of San Diego has recreated this yearly fundraising event for its return in 2016—making it an exclusive event—catered by a premier local caterer and featuring premium wines from all over California. With the help of a screen printing service this time the organizers will have matching t-shirts commemorating the event. They informed us that they ordered quite a few, and that the plan is to distribute these among the attendees through the many of the activities they will be holding at the event.

Attendees can expect a more intimate atmosphere this year with tray-passed small bites while tasting excellent wines, all while enjoying soft tunes from a grand piano in the living room.  The most important detail of the event still remains the same—helping the at-risk children of San Diego attend Camp Oliver, a youth summer camp non-profit organization in Descanso. All proceeds from the Wine and Roses event benefit Camp Oliver.

“This year Wine and Roses is going back to its roots after so many years to really make the event about the children that need our help, while enjoying an intimate, upscale experience,” said Mary Roberts, event co-chair of Wine and Roses and former president of the Social Service Auxiliary of San Diego. “Camp Oliver still needs our help for the children who may not otherwise be able to enjoy a week of fun and enrichment at a summer camp. We hope that people will join us for a wonderful afternoon of fine wine and scrumptious food to help Camp Oliver fulfill its mission of ‘changing lives, one camper at a time.”

Since its inaugural event, Wine and Roses has built one of the most revered wine events in the country where attendees get to taste expertly-curated wines from all over the country while still being able to donate millions to its beneficiary, Camp Oliver—totaling over $2.1 million in donations over 32 years. This year, Wine and Roses will also feature a raffle, ticketed at $100, with prizes like an instant wine cellar full of extraordinary wines and a grand raffle prize of an eight day/seven night stay in a luxurious two-bedroom vacation villa at the winner’s choice of a Hilton Grand Vacations Club Resort in Hawaii.

The ticketed event has an exclusive maximum of 200 guests and starts at $150 for the Rose Garden tickets and $250 for the Platinum Garden tickets. A purchase of a pair of Platinum Garden tickets will cover a campership fee for one child. Valet is included in the ticket price for guests.

The event runs 3 to 6 p.m. at the Darlington House, located at 7441 Olivetas Avenue in La Jolla.
