Los Angeles, CA–The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that Jennifer Fox, an Oscar-nominated producer and current Governor of the Producers Branch, will produce the 15th annual Governors Awards on November 17 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Ovation Hollywood.
This marks the sixth time Fox will helm this prestigious ceremony, honoring leaders in the film industry.
This year’s event will pay tribute to notable figures who have left an indelible mark on cinema. Music icon Quincy Jones and veteran casting director Juliet Taylor are set to receive Honorary Oscars, while the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award will be presented to celebrated filmmaker Richard Curtis. Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, known for their contributions to the James Bond franchise, will receive the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award for their consistent excellence in filmmaking.
Academy President Janet Yang praised Fox’s leadership and expertise.
“Jennifer is an exemplary producer, and we are delighted to welcome her back to the Governors Awards for a sixth time. Her expertise is unmatched, and we look forward to a memorable celebration honoring the achievements of Richard Curtis, Quincy Jones, Juliet Taylor, Michael G. Wilson, and Barbara Broccoli, Yang stated in a news release.
In a released statement, Fox expressed her excitement for the upcoming ceremony.
“I’m thrilled to produce this special event for the Academy once again. It’s a true highlight to honor the careers of such talented individuals and help kick off Oscar season,” Fox said.
With a career spanning over two decades, Fox is known for producing critically acclaimed films such as “Michael Clayton,” “Syriana,” “Good Night and Good Luck,” and “Nightcrawler.” She began her career in development at Universal Pictures and later joined Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney’s Section Eight Productions. Her recent work includes “The Last Duel” and “Magazine Dreams,” with her latest project, “The Pack,” currently in production.
The Governors Awards, held annually, recognize lifetime achievements in cinema, with the Honorary Oscar celebrating extraordinary contributions to film and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award honoring humanitarian efforts within the industry. The Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award is awarded to creative producers who demonstrate a legacy of high-quality work.
The 2024 Governors Awards will be presented in partnership with Rolex, the official timepiece of the Academy, underscoring the event’s significance as a kickoff to Oscar season.
