San Diego, CA–The San Diego Museum Council has officially announced the return of its beloved Kids Free San Diego program, which is now in its 13th year.
This initiative offers children ages 12 and under free admission to more than 50 museums, aquariums, parks, and other popular attractions across San Diego County. The program is presented in partnership with the San Diego Tourism Authority, with additional support from First 5 San Diego.
From October 1 to 31, families can explore some of San Diego’s best attractions, including iconic sites like the USS Midway Museum, Fleet Science Center, Birch Aquarium, and San Diego Air & Space Museum. In addition to these well-known venues, visitors can also discover hidden gems such as historic sites, nature centers, and hiking trails. While some locations are always free, others offer flexible, pay-what-you-wish admission. The complete list of participating venues is available on the San Diego Museum Council website.
“There’s something for everyone—whether your kids are into art, science, history, or nature,” says Bob Lehman, Executive Director of the San Diego Museum Council. “Our museums offer so much variety, from trains and cars to animals and archaeology. Plus, this is a great way for families to take advantage of San Diego’s beautiful Fall weather, save money, and have a blast.”
The Kids Free program is designed to make San Diego’s cultural and educational experiences more accessible to families. Last year, the program saw participation from over 100,000 children and adults.
Families can enjoy free admission for up to two kids (ages 12 and under) for each paying adult. Take advantage of this offer, and download a Kids Free coupon for each venue from the San Diego Museum Council’s website. Present the coupon at the admissions desk of the participating attraction. Some restrictions may apply. Visitors should check the museum’s specific guidelines online before heading out.
“Kids Free is a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together, explore, learn, and create lasting memories,” said Alethea Arguilez, Executive Director of First 5 San Diego. “These experiences are crucial to children’s development, especially in their early years, and we’re excited to be part of a program that increases access for more families.”
In addition to museums, other major attractions like the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, Legoland California Resort, Sea Life Aquarium, Belmont Park, and Sesame Place are also part of the Kids Free program.
