ROME–The Rolling Stones  will play an epic one-off show at Rome’s historic Circus Maximus on June 22 as part of their 14 On Fire tour.

The greatest rock-and-roll band in the world has tapped genre-defying, guitar aficionado, John Mayer as their opening act.  This isn’t the first pairing for the musicians, concert-goers in the US will remember Mayer sitting in twice before with the Stones for an unforgettable cover of Muddy Waters’ Champagne & Reefer, during the Rolling Stones 50 and Counting Tour in 2013 in both Newark, NJ and Anaheim, CA.

This special one-off performance in Rome will follow Mayer’s Spring International Tour, which takes him to Australia, New Zealand, Japan,Korea, London, and Scandinavia.  The ever-evolving musician most recently wowed audiences on Late Night with Seth Meyers by reassembling the John Mayer Trio, with special guests Chick Corea, Wallace Roney and Manolo Badrena for a modern blues take on JJ Cale’s After Midnight, giving fans a taste of the John Mayer to come.

The Stone’s 14 On Fire tour sees Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood back out on the road again after a mammoth run of concerts in the UK and US last year, bringing their iconic music and groundbreaking stage shows to audiences around the globe. The Stones launched the 14 On Fire tour with their first ever gig in the Middle East in February, and are currently making their way through Asia, Australia and New Zealand, before returning to play Europe for the first time in seven years. The Stones are also confirmed to headline the Pinkpop Festival in Holland and TW Classic Festival in Belgium.
