SAN DIEGO–The Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation (JCNI) continues to move forward with community strengthening work in partnership with residents of the Encanto community of San Diego by hosting a benefit dinner and concert in support of continuing neighborhood revitalization work in Southeastern San Diego.
“We are excited about the collaboration and partnership opportunities emerging with local and regional stakeholders committed to creating a stronger San Diego through fostering vibrant communities,” said President and CEO Reginald Jones. “This inaugural benefit will help support our work moving forward.”
For nearly two decades, the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation has partnered with residents in Southeastern San Diego to support community-building efforts aimed at enhancing neighborhood vitality. With residents central to the process, much has been accomplished, like building Market Creek Plaza, a bustling, part resident investor-owned shopping center. Most recently, JCNI hosted a groundbreaking for a long-awaited Walgreens that will serve the community in providing easy access to medication and other healthcare needs.
The Revitalizing Together Benefit will be an evening of exceptional Jazz with internationally renowned recording artist, Michelle Coltrane, daughter of the legendary Jazz artist John Coltrane, and an exquisite dinner prepared by Executive Chef Darren Street of Market Creek Events & Venues (MCEV). The fundraising event will support the JCNI core initiatives including resident engagement, redevelopment, economic opportunity, and place-making through arts and culture.
“Together, we can improve lives by strengthening our communities through collaborative work,” Jones added.
The benefit starts at 6:30 p.m., April 25 at Celebration Hall at the Joe and Vi Jacobs Center, 404 Euclid Avenue in San Diego.
