San Diego, CA–Actor Johnny Depp made two surprise appearances Thursday afternoon during San Diego Comic-Con International, delighting fans while promoting director Ti West’s upcoming film “Ebenezer” for Paramount Pictures.

Depp appeared in full costume and remained in character as Ebenezer Scrooge, the iconic Charles Dickens character from “A Christmas Carol,” during both appearances.

Depp’s first stop was the Paramount Pictures Ebenezer Office Activation in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, where fans had lined up for hours hoping to see the actor. He emerged from the “Scrooge and Marley” installation wearing a black top hat, long black coat and carrying a cane before greeting the cheering crowd.

Staying in character throughout the appearance, Depp entertained fans and interacted with them for about 30 minutes.

He later made a second surprise appearance inside Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center during Collider’s “Directors on Directing” panel. Depp took the stage to introduce the first trailer for “Ebenezer,” briefly addressing the audience before leaving.

Directed by Ti West, “Ebenezer” stars Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, Tramell Tillman and Ian McKellen alongside Depp.

Ebenezer is scheduled to be released in theaters Nov. 13, 2026.
