Police seek information on suspect who killed a Chula Vista woman

By Gina Yarbrough

Chula Vista, CA–Chula Vista Police is seeking the public’s assistance in seeking information on a 23-year-old woman who was shot and killed by an unknown suspect on July 18.

Chula Vista Police responded to the 200 Block of C Street to investigate a call of a woman who had possibly been shot, just after 11 p.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man and woman off the roadway just west of the Woodland Hills Apartments at 295 C Street. The woman had an apparent gunshot wound and was bleeding heavily. Officers began lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived. The woman, believed to be unsheltered and living in Chula Vista, died from her injuries at the scene, the Chula Vista Police Department stated in a news release.

Authorities believe the shooting occurred in the field behind the Woodland Hills Apartments, north of C Street in an area where unsheltered individuals are known to reside.

According to Chula Vista Police, investigators have spoken to a man who was found with the victim, but there is no suspect information available at this time. However, based on the investigation, there is no threat to the public related to this shooting. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or submit tips anonymously online or through the P3tips mobile application.
