San Diego, CA–For the seventh year, Wheelhouse Credit Union has partnered with Knox Middle School to support local families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. Wheelhouse has assisted more than 500 families through the program.
“Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate with family and friends while also giving back to our community in the spirit of gratitude. We are honored to once again join with Knox Middle School to make this holiday special and stress-free for our neighbors who need assistance,” said Paul-Hill, president and CEO of Wheelhouse Credit Union. “Delivering the turkeys was a special joy for our Wheelhouse “Turkey Crew” volunteers, and we congratulate all the faculty and staff at Knox Middle School for another successful year in providing this important service to our shared community.”
This year, Wheelhouse provided 30 families with $50 grocery gift cards to supplement turkeys donated by Knox Middle School and cover their Thanksgiving dinner expenses. The Thanksgiving turkeys and gift cards were delivered by the “Turkey Crew” of the school’s teachers, staff, and Wheelhouse volunteers the week before Thanksgiving.
“Knox Middle School is incredibly honored to continue our partnership with Wheelhouse Credit Union as a sponsor of our annual Knox Thanksgiving Turkey Drive,” said Heather Potter, principal of Knox Middle School.
Potter says Knox is a 96 percent free and reduced lunch designated school. Wheelhouse’s donation helps to support the school’s families during the holidays and to build community giving back positively.
