SAN DIEGO–San Diego Grantmakers (SDG) added two new additions to their board of trustees.

Alan Kwok is the new Director of Learning and will oversee and provide strategic direction for a suite of engaging learning opportunities for its 115 funder members.

Kwok brings over 15 years of experience building equitable communities through education, workforce development, community healthcare, and disaster resilience in San Francisco and Wellington, New Zealand. More recently, he managed a multi-year, FEMA award-winning Bay Area-wide disaster resilience program at the American Red Cross, which increased disaster training and response capacity of over 20 low-income and vulnerable communities across the region.

“We are excited to have Alan join our team as we embark on our new 2020 strategic plan, said SDG President and CEO Nancy Jamison. “Alan will play an important role in creating and delivering the highest quality and most compelling learning opportunities and conferences for our members, including supporting programs for our funder and cross-sector collaborations, equity and impact investing strategies.

Kwok is already hitting the ground running.

“I am looking forward to contributing to building the organization into a true resource hub that connects, inspires and empowers informed and strategic giving in our community” Kwok said.

In other organizational announcements, Nancy Sasaki, the Executive Director of the Alliance Healthcare Foundation has been elevated to the position of Chair of the San Diego Grantmakers Board of Directors for a two year term, continuing the stellar work of David Lynn of the Lynn Family Fund at The San Diego Foundation who will support her over the next year in the role of past chair.

Sasaki brings a wealth of regional experience to this role having previously served as the Executive VP of Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest and as the Executive Director of the ACLU of San Diego and Imperial Counties. She will play an integral role in setting delivering on San Diego Grantmakers new strategic framework and ensuring it effectively stewards the organization’s efforts to make the region better through philanthropy and the spirit of collaboration.
