SAN DIEGO–Higgs Fletcher and Mack, a San Diego-based, full-service law firm for 75 years, announced today that they donated $3,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities San Diego Chapter.
In addition to the check presentation, 19 Higgs employees donated their time by serving nearly 200 meals to families, providing live piano entertainment and organizing craft activities for young children.
“It’s very important for us to give back to such an admirable organization that provides programs to strengthen families during difficult times. Our staff truly enjoyed spending the evening handling food preparation, serving, bussing tables and cleaning up,” said Greg Pyke, Partner at Higgs Fletcher and Mack. “Our very own Randal Westbury played the piano which really created a special ambience while other team members led the arts and craft table. We’re proud of our efforts to make the evening so special to these deserving children and their loved ones.”
The event is part of Higgs’s “7,500-Hour Volunteer Challenge” campaign as part of their 75th anniversary celebration whereby members of the firm will collectively donate 7,500 hours of community service along with monetary contributions to select non-profits throughout the year. Previous initiatives have included serving military families dinner at the downtown San Diego USO facility in January as well as support for the 22nd Annual Women’s Resource Fair last March and patients at Rady Children’s Hospital earlier this month.
“Higgs has a long history of philanthropic work with the Ronald McDonald House throughout the years. It was such a delight to see the guests enjoy a respite from their treatments,” said Laura Cosby, Accounts Payable Specialist at Higgs Fletcher & Mack. “Our staff even wore red and white stripped socks like Ronald McDonald in honor of the non-profit’s 40th anniversary. We look forward to our continued effort to give back throughout the remainder of 2014 as part of our volunteer challenge.”
