San Diego, CA–The Associated General Contractors of America, San Diego Chapter, Inc. (AGC) installed its
2022 officers and board members at the Chapter’s annual Installation and Member Awards Program,
which was held on March 8.
Over 300 guests attended the event which was sponsored by Surety Associates of Southern California.
Kari Kyne, President of Kyne Construction, was installed as the 77th President in the AGC’s 95-year
history and only the second woman to hold this leadership role. She succeeds Mike Williamson of Pacific
Coast Iron. Kyne Construction was established in 2004 and is a small, woman-owned, and family-operated, general engineering contractor specializing in underground and site utilities.
As a member of AGC’s Board of Directors, Kyne has served as Senior Vice President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Chair of AGC’s Government Relations and Political Action Committees, Membership Committee, Plan Room Committee, and Education Committee.
The other AGC officers installed were Austin Cameron of TC Construction Company, Inc., Senior Vice
President; Dr. Gita Murthy of RORE, Inc. as Vice President; Norbert Schulz of J.R. Filanc Construction
Company as Secretary/Treasurer; and Mike Williamson of Pacific Coast Iron as immediate Past President.
The remaining Board Members for 2022 are: Mike Berryhill of Swinerton; Rob Brienza of AGC’s
Construction Leadership Council; Jeff Clinkscales of Rossin Steel, Inc.; Randy Finch of Finch, Thornton
& Baird, LLP; Steve Friar of Hensel Phelps; Jeff Harper of Harper Construction Company, Inc.; Alan
Mashburn of Bergelectric Corporation; Larry McMahon of Alliant Insurance Services, Inc.; John Messick
of Sundt Construction, Inc.; Jason Mordhorst of Hazard Construction Company, Inc.; Boris Shekhter of
Helix Electric, Inc.; Mike Spain of Skanska, USA Civil West; Jim Summers of EC Constructors, Inc.;
Barry Swaim of Tower Glass, Inc.; Mark Weiand of Cox Construction Company, Inc.; and Wes Wise of
Cass Arrieta.
The following AGC members have been appointed to the 2022 Executive Committee and will serve as
Ex-Officio Members of the Board of Directors: Bob Bridges, Sherwood Mechanical, Inc., and Mike
Furby of Marathon Construction Corporation.
The program included recognition of 278 graduates of AGC’s Apprenticeship Program in 2021,
29 graduates from AGC’s Project Management Program; presentation of the annual AGC Member
Awards and Construction Safety Excellence Awards; a special presentation of the President’s Award to
Mark Payne (Retired – Swinerton); and a special presentation of AGC’s prestigious SIR Award, the
highest award given by any AGC chapter. Mark Filanc, who served as AGC’s 2011 President, was
honored for his “Skill, Integrity, and Responsibility” throughout his career in the construction industry.
The San Diego Chapter has over 900 member firms.
