Oceanside, CA–Two people were seriously injured following a vehicle collision Monday night in an Oceanside neighborhood, authorities said.

The collision occurred around 6:29 p.m. on the 2100 block of Fire Mountain Drive and Avocado Road.

The Oceanside Police Department says a preliminary report said an Audi driven by a 50-year-old woman ran through a stop sign and slammed into a Nissan Rogue SUV. Her vehicle veered off striking a light pole before flipping over onto its roof.

The impact of the collision left the woman trapped inside her vehicle. The Oceanside Fire Department personnel were able to remove her from the vehicle before transporting her to Scripps Medical Center in La Jolla.  

The male driver of the Nissan suffered minor injuries. He was transported to Scripps La Jolla for a medical evaluation. 

San Diego Gas and Electric crews were called to the scene to inspect the damage to the power pole. 

Oceanside police will take the woman into custody, and charge her on suspicion of DUI.

The incident is under investigation.
