El Cajon, CA–Every golfer made an impact during the 35th Sycuan Cup Golf Tournament at Singing Hills Golf Club.
With participants gathering for a day of golf, the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation presented a total of $100,000 to four charities, celebrating each organization’s mission on June 3.
This year, the Sycuan Tribe brought together Sycuan leaders, event sponsors and beneficiaries to support causes ranging from environmental conservation and public safety to disability and social services. The following four beneficiaries each received $25,000 to continue making an impact on the community: Kumeyaay Diegueño Land Conservancy, 4Corners K-9 Search and Rescue, St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center, and East County Transitional Living Center
“We are very grateful for your support, for your partnership and your commitment to making a positive difference here in San Diego County” Chairman Cody Martinez from the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation said. “This tournament today is about much more than a day of golf. It is an opportunity for all of us to come together in the spirit of giving, friendship and service to our community”
The two-day celebration began with a Welcome Party at Sycuan Casino Resort’s pool venue, Retreat Pool and Cabanas, on June 2. The following morning, participants gathered for the golf tournament, networking over breakfast while learning about each nonprofit’s community impact. Chairman Cody Martinez also presented a donation to each nonprofit and shared his remarks recognizing their ongoing service and outreach efforts.
For 35 years, the Sycuan Cup has brought communities together in support of nonprofits and drive meaningful impact through its annual golf tournament. Each year, the Sycuan Tribal Council selects organizations representing a range of causes, including youth development, arts, and healthcare, among others. Altogether, the event highlights the strength of partnerships, fostering lasting community support in San Diego and beyond.
