San Diego County, CA–San Diego Association of Governments’ annual Bike Anywhere Day drew thousands of cyclists across the San Diego region Thursday morning, with participants making 11,342 visits to 116 pit stops set up along local routes.
The event’s turnout represents a 13 percent increase in participation compared to last year and marks the highest participation since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Along the route from Oceanside to Tijuana, pit stops featured interactive activities and provided participants with official Bike Anywhere Day 2026 T-shirts, bike maps, snacks and refreshments.
Eligible registrants were automatically entered into the Bike Anywhere Day sweepstakes for a chance to win one of five e-bikes, courtesy of Ridepanda. The sweepstakes are closed, and winners will be contacted by Friday.
San Diego Association of Governments, also known as SANDAG, has hosted the bike event for more than 30 years, encouraging people to bike as a fun, sustainable, and healthy way to get around. With more than 1,800 miles of bikeways in the region, the agency continues to invest in new infrastructure. Eighteen miles of bikeways are currently under construction, and the agency expects to break ground on five more miles in the next two years.
