San Diego, CA–The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) unveiled the official Bike Anywhere Day pit stop map Thursday, giving cyclists a chance to plan their routes ahead of the regional event scheduled on May 21.
The map features more than 100 pit stop locations stretching across the region, including communities from Oceanside to El Cajon and extending into Tijuana.
For more than three decades, SANDAG has organized the annual Bike Anywhere Day celebration as part of National Bike Month each May. The event encourages residents to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution by choosing bicycles as a practical, healthy, and environmentally friendly mode of transportation. Riders participating in this year’s event will have access to more than 1,800 miles of bikeways throughout the San Diego region.
Last year’s event drew significant community participation, with more than 10,000 visits recorded at pit stops throughout the region. Organizers say registered riders for the 2026 event will automatically be entered into the Bike Anywhere Day Sweepstakes for an opportunity to win one of five electric bicycles provided by Ridepanda.
Participants visiting pit stops can receive a free commemorative T-shirt while supplies last, along with refreshments and snacks. The pit stops will be hosted by a wide range of community partners, including local businesses, nonprofit organizations, schools, healthcare providers, and public agencies.
SANDAG is also marking National Bike Month with additional activities throughout May, including free bicycle education classes and organized group rides. Cyclists can access the San Diego Regional Bike Map online or obtain a complimentary printed copy at participating pit stops during the event.
