Escondido, CA – On June 7, cycling enthusiasts from across Southern California and beyond will converge on Ryan Park in Escondido for the highly anticipated return of the Giro di San Diego Granfondo.
The event promises an unforgettable day of high-energy riding, scenic routes, and community celebration—beginning at 7:15 a.m. with a stirring national anthem and a mass start.
This iconic ride is known for offering something for every level of cyclist, with four distinct road routes:
GranFondo – Mesa Grande: 95 miles
GranFondo – Palomar: 59 miles
MedioFondo: 30 miles
PiccoloFondo: 20 miles
Each route showcases San Diego County’s picturesque backroads and mountain climbs, combining beauty and challenge in equal measure. Among the highlights is the timed climb up the formidable Palomar Mountain, a bucket-list experience for competitive cyclists seeking a serious ascent.
The California Highway Patrol will monitor the course, and all rides are chip-timed, giving participants a chance to track their progress year after year. King and Queen of the Mountain prizes will be awarded across age groups for those aiming for top honors.
Riders can look forward to well-stocked rest stops, full SAG and mechanical support, finisher medals for all participants, an Italian lunch, complete with authentic flavors, live music, and a beer garden courtesy of Seek Beer Co., benefiting the Life Sports Foundation, custom jerseys and t-shirts for purchase, and bike valet parking, so cyclists can enjoy the festivities worry-free.
All donations above the entry fee are tax-deductible, and 100% go directly to the foundation.
