San Diego, CA–With the first day of school approaching, San Diego Unified educators are harnessing the excitement and resources of Comic-Con to pioneer innovative educational practices.
San Diego Unified’s presence at Comic-Con showcases the district’s efforts to prepare students for thriving careers in media arts and entertainment.
Tom Antl, the Arts, Media, and Entertainment Coordinator for the San Diego Unified School District, spoke at Friday’s panel. He offered resources to educators for providing apprenticeship opportunities within the entertainment industry, giving students hands-on training and certifications that translate into real-world work experience, enhancing career viability post-graduation.
On Saturday, Mick Rabin, a resource counselor in the Youth Advocacy Department at San Diego Unified, shared his experience integrating comics into the classroom to impart vital information. He introduced a website with resources for teachers interested in exploring the power of comics in education. His insights demonstrated how comics can engage students and enrich their learning experiences, making education informative and fun.
