Oak Brook, Ill–TreeHouse Foods, Incorporated has issued a voluntary recall for select frozen waffle products due to potential contamination with listeria monocytogenes.
This bacterium can cause serious infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms such as high fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. In pregnant women, Listeria can lead to miscarriages or stillbirths.
The recalled waffles were distributed across the U.S. and Canada, under various brand names. Consumers can identify the products by checking the UPC, Lot Code, and Best By Date, all located on the packaging.
To date, there are no confirmed illnesses linked to the recalled items. However, anyone who suspects they may have been affected should consult a healthcare provider.
The contamination was discovered through routine testing at TreeHouse Foods’ manufacturing facility. Consumers are advised to check their freezers and either dispose of the products or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
