SAN FRANCISCO–The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) today announced that its General Counsel, Frank Lindh, is resigning to accept a new position as a partner in the San Francisco office of Crowell & Moring LLP, a national law firm.
Lindh has served as the CPUC’s General Counsel since June 2008. The CPUC will conduct a national search to select a new General Counsel.
“We wish Frank all the best in his new position,” said Michael Peevey, president of CPUC. “He has been a wonderful General Counsel and public servant. His vision, hard work, and strong commitment to legal ethics will be sorely missed at the CPUC.”
“Frank has contributed enormously to our initiatives in the nearly six years he has served with such distinction as our General Counsel, Commissioner Mike Florio said. “He’s been a champion on behalf of consumers in cleaning up the Energy Crisis of 2000-2001, helping to win back more than $5 billion for consumers from the sellers who over-charged for electricity.”
“I have gained amazing experience and had the pleasure of working with wonderful colleagues and friends at the CPUC. I feel I have made a positive difference in the lives of millions of Californians. I am very grateful for the opportunity to have served the people of the State of California, and I look forward to the next chapter of my career at Crowell & Moring,” Lindh said.
Until the General Counsel position is filled, the CPUC’s Chief Administrative Law Judge, Karen Clopton, former General Counsel for the Department of Corporations and widely respected leader in the State Bar of California, will serve as the CPUC’s Acting General Counsel. Assistant Chief Administrative Law Judge Timothy Sullivan will serve as Acting Chief Administrative Law Judge.
