Ramona, CA–Fire crews are battling a 50-acre vegetation fire that erupted Monday in Witch Creek near Ramona, Cal Fire San Diego tweeted.

The vegetation fire, dubbed the Caesar Fire, was reported at 11:46 a.m. north of State Route 78 and Ramona Trails Drive, east of Ramona.

Due to an immediate structure threat on Rancho Santa Fe Court, residents were advised to evacuate to a temporary evacuation site at Olive Peirce Middle School, 1521 Hansen Lane in Ramona.

Traffic on State Route 78 was closed in both directions from Magnolia Avenue to Southerland Dam Road due to the fire in the area, Caltrans San Diego tweeted.

Cal Fire San Diego reports that the fire’s forward rate of spread has been stopped.

Traffic near the blaze will remain closed while fire crews extinguish hot spots.
