SAN DIEGO–A truck filled with compacted cars caught fire on northbound Interstate-5 in San Diego on Tuesday afternoon, according to the San Diego Fire Department.

The blaze was reported shortly before 1 p.m. near Del Mar Heights Road. The truck was hauling the scrap metal when it caught on fire.

Fire crews used an extended ladder and firefighting foam to knock out the blaze on top of the truck.

The incident temporarily halted northbound traffic for over two hours.

There were no injuries reported.
