San Diego, CA–Multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating a series of armed robberies of convenience stores that occurred in San Diego County, and their association with the arrest of a 30-year-old suspect in Los Angeles County, authorities said.

Detectives arrested Rhett Nelson on suspicion of robbing five 7-Eleven convenience stores located in Lemon Grove, San Diego, and Carlsbad.

The stores robbed were located at 4205 Voltaire Street, 3185 Midway Drive, 1702 Gateway Drive in San Diego, 7607 Broadway in Lemon Grove, and 7602 El Camino Real in Carlsbad.

According to the Carlsbad Police Department, the suspect would enter the stores, threaten the clerks with a handgun, take an undisclosed amount of cash, and flee the area before officers arrive at the location.

The three cases within San Diego Police Department’s jurisdiction, the one case in San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, and one Carlsbad Police Department’s jurisdiction are being investigated by each respective agency, according to investigators.

Evidence has been gathered in each case including surveillance video. All three San Diego County law enforcement agencies have been in contact with investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to determine if Nelson is the suspect involved in the cases.
