Structure fire damages Oceanside restaurant

By Gina Yarbrough

Oceanside, CA–A restaurant sustained major damage in an early Wednesday morning structure fire in downtown Oceanside, authorities reported.

Oceanside Fire Department crews were dispatched at 4:05 a.m. to a reported structure fire at Alfredo’s Mexican Restaurant, 602 North Coast Highway. The blaze was first spotted by an officer with the Oceanside Police Department during a routine patrol.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they encountered an actively burning building and a broken gas line near the front entrance, creating a significant safety hazard.

Crews launched an aggressive interior attack and confirmed the structure was unoccupied. They were able to prevent the blaze from extending to adjacent buildings. The fire was brought under control in about 40 minutes.

Crews faced additional challenges accessing concealed fire within decorative void spaces above the roofline, which required extended overhaul operations to ensure full extinguishment.

No injuries to civilians or first responders were reported. The restaurant was closed at the time of the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Fire officials reminded residents and business owners to evacuate immediately in the event of a fire, call 911 once safely outside, and remain clear of the area to allow emergency personnel to operate safely.
