Retail theft operation nets five arrests, stolen property recovered

By Gina Yarbrough

El Cajon, CA–The El Cajon Police Department, in partnership with Home Depot, conducted a targeted retail theft operation to address the increasing theft problem affecting local businesses.

Investigators and store staff monitor and apprehend thieves in real time, minimizing delays in response.

The one-day operation resulted in five arrests and the recovery of stolen merchandise. Among those arrested were Darrius Moore, 44, and Adrian Varona, 20, listed as transient and with outstanding theft-related warrants. They were jailed, while the other suspects were issued citations and released.

Chief Mike Moulton emphasized the department’s commitment to addressing retail theft.

“The El Cajon Police Department will use every resource available to hold criminals accountable. Criminal acts will not be tolerated, and those responsible will face consequences,” he stated.
