El Cajon, CA–A homeless registered sex offender on parole, and with a lengthy arrest history, was taken into custody after he entered a woman’s home and stole her purse, authorities said.
On Monday, around 10:20 a.m., a sex offender on active parole entered a woman’s apartment without her knowledge. The man grabbed a purse before the woman confronted him. The victim’s daughter called the police as the man fled the apartment.
Officers found the suspect a short distance away. The man had keys from the management office when the officers arrested him.
Police officers identified the man as Samuel Salas, a 36-year-old registered sex offender on parole, who is a transient from San Diego. In December of 2023, officers arrested Salas in El Cajon for failing to comply with his parole conditions. Despite his lengthy arrest history and his continued failure to comply with parole conditions, he was released from custody on February 22, victimizing another person in less than one week.
