Spring Valley, CA–Mount Miguel High School was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon after authorities received reports of a possible threat, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident began just after 3:40 p.m., when a school resource officer was alerted to a potential threat that had been relayed through a third party. Investigators believe the report was connected to a physical altercation between students earlier in the day.
Deputies from the Rancho San Diego Station and Lemon Grove Substation, along with Sheriff’s detectives and school resource officers, responded to the campus. A student believed to be involved in the incident was quickly identified. Deputies contacted the student and their parents before conducting a search of the juvenile’s home for weapons.
Authorities also searched the school but found no weapons or additional suspects. The lockdown was lifted after deputies determined there was no ongoing threat.
