Spring Valley, CA–Sheriff’s Department detectives arrested six people Wednesday morning on suspicion of operating an illegal marijuana dispensary in Spring Valley.
Detectives from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s Marijuana Enforcement Team with the assistance of Sheriff deputies from the Santee Station’s Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving Unit and Sheriff deputies from the Special Enforcement Detail executed a 7 a.m. search warrant at the dispensary located on the 9800 block of Campo Road.
The warrant was part of an investigation by Sheriff’s detectives of illegal marijuana dispensaries in San Diego county.
Detectives seized two firearms, approximately $2,700 in U.S. currency, 150 pounds of processed marijuana, 100 pounds of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) infused edibles, 100 pounds of THC vape products and concentrated marijuana, and a small amount of cocaine.
Investigators discovered several THC-infused edibles which falsely appeared to be legitimate candy. It is not uncommon for unlicensed and unregulated cannabis dispensaries to market their dangerous product to children. Additionally, THC-infused food products closely resembling well-known name brands may be inadvertently consumed, creating potential health and safety risks, according to the Sheriff’s office.
The warrant follows community concerns about illegal marijuana dispensaries near schools and residential areas.
Felony charges will be filed against the six suspects with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.
