El Cajon, CA–The El Cajon Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance for information regarding a hate crime-related vandalism on several vehicles in East County on June 27, authorities said.
Officers responded to reports of vandalism between 1:30 and 3:00 a.m. in the 1300 block of Greenfield Drive in El Cajon.
According to El Cajon Police, five vehicles parked along the street were spray-painted with swastikas and hate speech.
“At this time, our primary focus is on identifying and arresting the individual(s) responsible for the damage,’’ El Cajon Police stated in the department’s news release.
The motive for the vandalism is unknown, and investigators have not determined whether the suspect(s) had any prior connection to the victims.
“We want to reassure the residents of El Cajon that we take hate crimes very seriously. Acts of vandalism like this are attacks on property and our community. We urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and assist us in our investigation,” El Cajon Police said.
