SANTEE—Six people were arrested in Santee for selling and delivering marijuana within the city, authorities say.
One of the delivery drivers was a registered sex offender, according to Sheriff’s department. A total of 12.76 pounds of product was seized for evidence.
The Sheriff’s department has received complaints over the sales of marijuana and its products in the city.
Over the last six months there has also been a noticeable increase in violent crime associated with the sales of marijuana; such as carjacking, shootings, and robberies, according to authorities.
The Sheriff’s Santee Station COPPS unit performed an operation where orders were made for the purchase of marijuana through various on-line sources. The sources utilized delivery drivers to complete the sales of the product with the Santee city limits; a violation of the Santee Municipal Codes.
Once the deliveries were made, deputies would arrest the drivers for a violation of these codes, seize their product.
