LAKESIDE–A shooting near the Interstate 8 freeway Monday afternoon left a passenger injured in El Cajon, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department said.
The shooting was reported shortly before noon at the Shell Station located at 13538 Camino Canada in unincorporated El Cajon.
Three victims who were driving southbound on Los Coches Road near the I-8 freeway saw a white colored Ford Explorer or Expedition drive next to them. The driver of the suspect vehicle pointed a shotgun at the victims’ vehicle and fired three rounds then sped away.
Pellets fired from the shotgun struck a rear passenger in the face and head. The shooting victim was alert and conscious and was transported to Sharps Memorial for non-life threatening injuries.
Lakeside detectives are investigating the incident.
