San Diego, CA–In an effort to remove illegal marijuana dispensaries from the community, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is asking residents and businesses to report them to local authorities.

Unregulated pot shops attract criminals involved with other illicit drugs and are often the catalyst for violent crime, property crime, and financial crime that affect the community. Products sold at unlicensed cannabis facilities are cultivated and manufactured using processes that may be harmful to consumers and are often marketed toward children, the Sheriff’s Department stated.

Residents with information on the illegal sale or cultivation of marijuana within the Sheriff’s Department jurisdiction, can call the Sheriff’s non-emergency line:  (858) 565-5200, visit https://www.sdsheriff.gov/bureaus/law-enforcement-services-bureau/patrol-stations, email the Sheriff’s webmaster at sdsheriff.webmaster@sdsheriff.gov, or submit a tip through San Diego County Crime Stoppers at www.sdcrimestoppers.org or call (888) 580-8477.
