SAN DIEGO–Yard House says today that its downtown San Diego location at 4th and Broadway will remain permanently closed following a recent flood which caused extensive damage to the restaurant.

“We’ve made the very difficult decision to close our downtown San Diego location,” said Craig Carlyle, president of Yard House. “It’s a very sad day for the Yard House family, especially our downtown San Diego team members.  This was never our original intent, but after evaluating the situation we determined it was no longer feasible to operate from this location.”

Darden, the parent company of Yard House, has been able to place more than 40-percent of its downtown staff at various Darden restaurants throughout San Diego County.

Earlier this week Yard House marked its 19th anniversary and has grown from a single restaurant along the Long Beach waterfront to 63 units nationwide. This past weekend the company opened two new locations in Moorestown, New Jersey, and Friendswood, Texas.

Yard House opened a second San Diego location in September in Westfield Mission Valley.
