Vista, CA–The Sheriff’s Department is investigating a train collision that killed a pedestrian on the Sprinter train tracks in Vista early Sunday morning, authorities said.

The incident occurred just before 5 a.m. between Vista Village Drive and Guajome Street on North County Transit District train tracks that travel from Oceanside to Escondido Transit Centers, the Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.

When deputies and fire department medical personnel arrived at the scene, they declared the victim deceased due to injuries he sustained.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will make a positive identity and determine the cause of death, pending notification of his family.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call the Sheriff’s Department non-emergency line at (858) 565-5200.
